Well, we are all ready to go. We are just killing time until it is time to go to the airport. My mom came up last night so that we can go to the airpot together today. My mom and dad's store is next door to a Chinese reastuarant. The restaurant owners are from Taiwan! They gave us some good advice. They told us that at the night markets the real price of any item is usually half of what the vendor claims is the price.
My mom asked their Chinese neighbors to write some important phrases in Chinese for us on notecards so we could communicate. So mom wrote out several phrases in English for them to translate such as "Where is the train station?" or "I need to buy baby formula." They were happy to help us, but when they came to the notecard that said "We do not speak Chinese" they just started laughing. I guess they are thinking we won't have any trouble convincing people we don't speak Chinese!!
Next time we post will be when we are in LA waiting for our fight to Taiwan.
